White River CO-OP's Swine Division
Our swine operations are located in six counties
spanning across southwestern Indiana. WRC has 6000 sows on 6 sow farms that produce over 125,000 head of market hogs per year through our finish barns. Our pigs consume over 1,000,000 bushels of corn on an annually sourced from our local farmers in our area. At White River Coop, our goal is to provide pork of the highest quality to pass on to consumers.
- The farmer-owners of White River Co-op are committed to doing what’s right for their animals every day. We also have a zero-tolerance policy for any mistreatment of our animals. Unfortunately, a recent situation came to our attention on a video of one of our contract partners where it appears that pigs were not treated with the care and dignity that they deserve and that we demand on a daily basis.
- There is a current investigation underway to get all of the facts involved in this event. Subsequent to the findings, appropriate action will be taken.
- The farmers of White River Co-op are determined to double-down on all needed training and best practices to ensure that an event such as this never happens again.
